Doncaster Rovers 1 Forest 0

The question has to be what was worse, the so called "entertainment" in honour of this dump closing or Forest's performance? - it's a close call but I think Forest edge it.

Should have known it was going to be like that from the moment we heard the starting line-up, how the hell Cullip & Breckin were preferred to Morgan, & Gary Holt even made the squad was unbelievable after there performances against Leyton Orient (especially the later).

If that wasn't enough we got to see just what kind of "Homer" official Doncaster had bagged to ensure all went well on their last game @ Belle Vue. A promising Forest attack & cross actually delivered somewhere near it's target, led to Grant Holt being manhandled to the ground in the 6 yard box - in clear view of the ref & having a freekick awarded against him for backing in. It was the most blatant penalty I've seen for years & if you've seen it or were there you'd probably agree.

But that was it, we only had brief attacking moments & most were ended by poor delivery, or Commons selfishness. The defence without Wes were shocking, rely heavily on Smith who was first heroic, with a string of great saves to keep them out & later turned villain when punching the ball into our net for the Doncasters winner.

The midfield was non-existent, until Perch was finally brought on for waste of space (aka Gary Holt), the balance that had been missing & is always missing when Clingan & Perch aren't played together returned. Agogo replaced Grant Holt, who'd done well on what little service he'd had & for the final 5 minutes or so we actually looked a threat & nearly nicked an equaliser.

For the Port Vale game Calderwood needs to make changes , because the way we've played in these last 2 games really isn't acceptable. I'd like to see Morgan, Perch & Agogo in from the start (replacing Cullip, Gary Holt, & Commons) & us begin the game like we ended @ Doncaster, then we might actually stop the rot before our lead @ the top has been totally wasted away.

Anyway I hope you all had a good Christmas, sorry again for the lack of updates (problems with my PC again & general busyness/laziness), I will hopefully have all the reports up to date before I travel to Dublin for New Years Eve.

Belle Vue made me very uncomfortable when I went there about 2 1/2 years ago.

I was concerned that the hot snacks and drinks shed backed on to the male toilets. Albeit some good hotdogs were served there. And apparantely the hot chocolate was a bit lumpy.

Moving on, it was just one of them nights where whenever a team celebrates something they end up winning despite the odds.

Glorious memories of Belle Vue: The PA, music sounded like it was coming from a car with a door open.
Advertisements at half time where you could pre-book a porta-cabin (the executive suite) for a few hundred of your hard-earned pounds.

Actually, no glorious memories here. Bring in the bulldozers!!!

Will.
